Carleton is a Partner at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP. His practice focuses on providing strategic, corporate, commercial, regulatory and enforcement counsel to U.S. depository institutions. For example, recent representations include (i) corporate and regulatory engagements with Cross River Bank, (ii) a community bank’s efforts to engage in a stablecoin business, (iii) FNZ on entering the U.S. market through a state trust company venture with State Street, (iv) a national trust bank’s acquisition of a trust business from a large regional bank, and (v) TIAA’s restructuring to decertify its bank holding company. He has also worked on a number of bank de novo applications in the last six years – including with FinTechs like Robinhood and Rakuten, more traditional banks like AmeriNat, Mi Bank and Gulf Capital Bank, and specialty trust charters like FNZ Trust Company and TIAA Trust. He is a member of Board of Editors of the Banking Law Journal. Prior to joining Hunton Andrews Kurth, Carl worked at WilmerHale and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
