Trace Schmeltz

Trace Schmeltz is a partner in the Chicago office of Steptoe LLP, where he advises clients on securities and commodities regulatory issues, handles enforcement matters, and tries cases in court and arbitration. He represents futures commission merchants, exchanges, commodity trading advisors, commodity pool operators, hedge funds, investment advisers, and other financial market participants in investigations, enforcement actions, and complex litigation. Trace has extensive experience handling matters before the SEC, CFTC, NFA, CME, and other exchanges and regulators and is recognized by Chambers USA for securities litigation. He also serves as Co-Chair of the ABA Securities Litigation Committee’s SEC Enforcement Subcommittee.
